Shocking Evidence that My Son is Indeed Mine

My 8th-grade son, James, had detention Monday after school. After which, he was given a form to fill out entitled “Detention Reflection”. These are his answers. (Not to mention the last piece of proof I needed to be 100% certain that he was not switched at birth and he is, without a doubt, my little precious.

Detention Reflection:

1. Who, besides you, was involved in this behavioral incident?

Arguably my mom and my little brother. Nobody really.

2. How did this get started?

The things that started this “event” are a combination of the musical practice and staying up late to get homework done. Then getting up late meant I had to rush and unfortunately, I can’t rush.

3. What was your part in starting the incident?

I’m the one who was late.

4. Describe in detail what happened.

I was late four times in one quarter.

5. How was the incident resolved?

It may not be resolved yet. Ironically, this detention might contribute to another tardy.

6. What could I have done differently to avoid this incident?

(a) not have gone to the musical practice

(b) gone to bed at an earlier time

7. Which Pillars of Ethics did I violate with my behavior in this incident? (reference page 3 of the Student Handbook – Student Agenda)

Citizenship – Do your share

Fairness and Justice – Know and do the right thing

Respect for self and others – Exercise self discipline

8. I plan to avoid this behavior in the future by:

Finding the painfullest and most effective method for waking me up.
