I took my camera out on a walk, hoping to photograph some interesting snow sculptures in the ‘hood, and I found Something Better! A puzzle!! Ooooh!
Guess where the basketball is in this picture?
I’ll give you a hint. If you’re looking at the grid and you’re thinking how stupid it would be to guess anything in the D row, you’d be right, but that wouldn’t make you the winner by guessing correctly where it ISN’T. But who’s to say a guess, such as C9 is stupid? Does that window look broken to you? Am I just saying that to distract you?
Put your guess in the comments by midnight (EST) February 20th. The winner gets a gift card to Bed Bath and Beyond the satisfaction of being riiiiight, (yell that like Oprah), which, to me is a lot more satisfying than a gift card for more stuff I have to move around my house.
I’ll announce The Winner of Being Right on SUNDAY! SUNDAY! SUNDAY!!

Wait, that’s not true. I have occasionally won those scratch off cards.
Wow!! I was riiiiigghhhttttt! I’ve never won anything!!
Rudd, don’t tell her.
My daughter says its, F5. Final answer.
Definitely A5. Can I be satisfied now, or do I have to wait till Sunday?
Study the snow a little more closely for the clue.
who the hell plays basketball in the snow????? weird yanks! lmao!
Pick a number, Aussie!
Isn’t this a bit premature? March madness isn’t until next month!
There isn’t any basketball in the photo. It’s just a photo. There might be basketball in the house, or in the garage, or hidden in the snow, but it ain’t in the photo.
So, my guess is the basketball is imaginary, which means the correct answer should also be imaginary, which leads to the logical conclusion that the basketball is in grid square Yuzz-i (see Theodor Geisel & Rafael Bombelli).
Now, what did I do with that aspirin bottle …
Is that your final answer?
Final answer
You’re sure?
I’m not looking at anyone else’s guess and going with this all on my own. My guess is F5 because I see a lump. Could just be a snow drift, but since it snowed here yesterday, I’m seeing lumps everywhere I go. LOL
I’m going with A7. I think the logo on the backboard is a basketball?!?!
You are the closest. I can’t say any mooooore!!!
I’m guessing E-3, just because.
B1– This is going to drive me crazy… Just to let you know!
I’m going with F5. now I’m waiting for the reply “You sank My Battleship”.
You sank my battleship! Jerry, that entered my mind, too, when I was making the grid. That or Bingo.
Okay, ya flumped me. I could guess hidden in the snow bank but as I scrunch up my eyes at really look at that window, it looks broken. I am going with C9. That’s my final answer.
I am going to go with E2. But, E8 is a possibility.
Well, at first I thought “F5!!” but then I saw the reflection in the window of the person with his arm raised. But, if you’re telling me it’s involved with the snow on a more intimate level, I’ll go back to F5.
I am definite that the basketball is in F5. And I thrive on being right, so I hope this works out for me.
Ok, Amy. First, I say E-3. Then you shout: “BINGO!” Then, I begin flailing about, knocking the table over, & making gutteral sounds of a suspicious nature, but no one can say anything because I’m riiiiiiight!!!
*fist pumping in air*
My guess is -A6. It was so cold out that the basketball is frozen in mid-air just above the hoop.
Yea, giant tears of laughter!
Okay, not behind the chimney, no imprints in the snow on the roof.
Now that I have given it more thought (and knowing Amy)….. I think you saw the hoop and you just want to know where the basketball is… hehehe.
It’s not an ooooh or aaaaaw moment that would pull at your heart strings, but it would tickle your funny bone and cause you to take a picture…..
Where’s Waldo?
Are you kidding me?? I wept when I saw this basketball being recovered. Giant tears. Like when they pulled baby Jessica out of the well!
I’m going with A5. Stuck behind the chimney.
Is it nepotism if my sister wins??
I’m going with in the hands of the kid in the window. And since you said it’s NOT row D, I’ll go with C9
You don’t think it might be behind a snow bank?? Not that I’m trying to trick you….
